Olaf Haraldsson rises to become king and patron saint of Norway. The series depicts pagan worship and the destruction of idols, religious conflict between Christianity and the Norse gods, threats against the king's life, spiritual temptation, and a climactic battle in which Olaf is killed. The series contains references to martyrdom, death, and war.
