Independent Ireland MEP Ciaran Mullooly wants Bord Bia to confirm that none of the significant level of funding being provided by the European union is being used to promote beef that originated outside of Europe in countries such as Brazil.

He has warned that there is no facility or tolerance within EU rules for this funding to be used to promote products imported from outside the European Union.

The Ardara businessman was murdered in his home in the early hours of Monday morning January 5th.

Thirty-two-year-old Michael Maloney from Loughros Point, Ardara, is currently before the courts, charged with the 66 year olds murder.

Donegal TD Pearse Dorthery says figures show insurers are making millions more by using standard profit definitions rather than those applied by the Central Bank.

The price of a bus ticket is set to increase by 5% with adult single fares rising by a minimum of 50 cent.

After much deliberation and weeks of negotiations, it was agreed last night that commercial rates would not be increased in the year ahead, despite a 5% rise proposal by the executive.
