A World Longing for Gentleness by Nicolet Bell & Christie Thomas

We live in an outrage culture — hot takes, anger, polarization... and sadly, Christians are often seen as part of the problem. But what if we became known for our gentleness instead? 😔➡️🕊️

Jesus didn't grasp at power. He humbled himself. He served. He died. And we are explicitly called to have that same attitude. (Philippians 2!)

And mama — how we respond to our kids today is showing them what Jesus looks like. That's the weight and the beauty of it. 🙏

If we were honest for a second, we could all agree that motherhood comes with seasons of suffering. The sleepless nights. The worry that doesn't turn off. The relationships that are harder than you expected. The dreams you quietly set aside. The feeling that you're giving everything and still coming up short.It doesn't always feel like the kind of suffering people write about in theology books. But it's real. And it's heavy.

This week's episode reminds us that Jesus didn't just acknowledge our suffering. He prayed for us in the middle of it. In John 17, on the night before the cross, He asked the Father for us to one day share in His glory.Your suffering is not invisible. It's not meaningless. And according to Romans 8:17, it's actually connecting you to something far greater than you can see right now.This episode is for the mom who is tired, who is in a hard season, who needs to be reminded that the joy coming is worth the suffering you're carrying today.

When we intentionally seek rest in His presence, He restores us so we can continue loving and serving our families from a place of fullness rather than exhaustion.In today's episode, we look at one of the most comforting images in Scripture—God as our Shepherd. As we walk through Psalm 23, we’re reminded that just as a shepherd carefully watches over his flock, the Lord lovingly cares for each of us. Do you ever feel overwhelmed by everything you’re trying to accomplish? The days feel long, but the seasons are short. We never really know when a certain "last" will happen. In every changing season, God invites us to seek wisdom and embrace the shift. While that transition can sting, it also offers a beautiful opportunity. Instead of striving to remain the center of our children’s and grandchildren’s lives, we can intentionally point them to the One who should be.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me live a life that glorifies you before my family. Trying to be their all in all not only sets me up for failure and disappointment, but far more importantly such misguided efforts keep me from pointing them to. When I forget, because I will, and I'm feeling like I'm on the outside of their lives looking in, remind me of this greater goal. I want to live demonstrating to my family that you are my joy and my heart's desire. Despite how dear my loved ones are to me, you are the well that never runs dry. In Jesus' name we pray, amen

Prayer: Father, from the beginning you gave us light to draw a boundary to the darkness you used it to show us the way to go to give us understanding and to reveal deep and hidden truths in your Word. Prayer: Father, we are so grateful for your promises. We are thankful that every single one of them found its "yes and amen" in Christ. You did this to show that you are who you say you are. You sent your son into our world to show us yourself. So we cling to your promises. Build faith in us so that we can model that to our children. May they see that we genuinely love you and that while we are not perfect, we are trying. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

Help me to give every single apprehension fully to You.

And Lord, help me to trust You completely with my children’s very lives. As I care for them, may faith arise in my heart as I read Your Word. May I choose not to worry but instead trust You fully. God, You are faithful. You are utterly trustworthy. I choose to believe that You are with me and You are with my children. Thank you Lord for guarding them and guiding them. Thank you Lord that I don’t have to entertain worry because You are always with my children. In Jesus’s name, Amen.

Motherhood is full of moments that remind us just how imperfect we are.

We lose our tempers, forget the little things, and wrestle with guilt over what we should have done differently. But today’s reflection by Julie K. Gillies reminds us that our failures don’t define us—God’s goodness and readiness to forgive do.

Through Psalm 86:5 and James 3:2, we’re reminded that we all stumble, yet our Heavenly Father stands ready—arms open—to forgive and restore. His unfailing love meets us in our weariness, cleanses us from guilt, and fills us with grace to try again.

Prayer: Lord, I admit that I simply am not capable of being a perfect mom, and I will fail. Will you please help me not to stab myself with a harpoon of guilt, but instead run to You, my faithful God, because You stand ready to forgive me when I blow it? Thank you, Lord, that You are not a harsh, angry heavenly Father, but You stand, arms open and ready to forgive me, Your confessing child.

Help me remember to ask for Your help for everything, especially concerning my parenting and my family. Thank you that when I do, Your unfailing love rushes in, pouring grace into me and enabling me to do what I clearly cannot do apart from You, Jesus. Cleanse me, reinstate me, and enable me to serve my family with great relief and joy. in Jesus’s name, Amen.
