But heroic Lou Penrose has other ideas, which prompted him to save a neighborhood dog’s life from a strangling incident. When Lou managed to get animal control to the neighbor's home, the officer was not happy with the neglectful dog owner, who was at home but unaware that the tethered dog was in distress. If Lou had removed the dog without the neighbor’s knowledge from their private property, he could have been charged with theft. The dog was hopping around on three legs and crying all night as its one leg remained tangled up in the leash — what would you do in that situation! Once freed by Lou, the dog collapsed in exhaustion. Does the Good Samaritan law apply in this case?

Remote Work. At the Beach?! Well, Naturally — It’s California!

Hour 1 - No one is working from the beach! On Friday, due to the SoCal winter heatwave we’re presently experiencing, around 100 Angelinos took the day off in-office work, brought their laptops to the beach (and some people even brought their desks), and worked remotely. It's no longer a thing to go to the beach to cool off when the mercury spikes — that’s what people did in the 1920s before air conditioning was a thing. Also, the government shutdown is causing a TSA slowdown and subsequent issues at airports. TSA is comprised of government workers, who are now going through a second pay period without receiving their pay due to the shutdown. It’s now ice cream weather! And it turns out the frozen, creamy goodness ain’t so bad for your health. People who eat ice cream regularly have a lower risk of type II diabetes. They also say you should eat bread, but only if it’s sourdough, because it’s good for gut health.  Are elementary schools getting over the top with their punishments? Lou’s 6th-grade son received a school suspension that feels rather arbitrary. Is it now worse for boys than it is for girl students in terms of the punishment they receive? And did you know — butter makes it better??

Hour 2 -  More to Lou’s 6th-grade son who was punished at school. His crime? Lou Jr.’s friend threw trash in the can but missed, so Lou Jr. picked it off the lunchroom floor and attempted to throw it in the bin, which started a trend. A piece of trash hit one of Lou Jr.’s female classmates, she got upset, and Lou Jr. got a month’s worth of punishment. Are boy students getting picked on and punished by the faculty on account of them not being girl students? Boys will be boys, since when is that a crime? It started as a meme — young women in Los Angeles daring each other to date a Trump supporter. They thought it would be funny, but it backfired; it turns out they had lovely times. And it activated something feral in them! Just goes to show that nowadays, people do not know how to date!  The potato chip industry is getting hit hard! Is nothing sacred in this economy? Nowadays, is there such a thing as going steady? Is it OK to date multiple people at once? Lou sure seems to think so!
