Individual tickets are $150; you can also purchase bundles of tickets at discounted prices. Proceeds from the raffle will be used to fund competitions, health screenings, leadership classes, sporting equipment, uniforms, coach training, travel expenses and more. For most families, participation in sporting organizations would be financially impossible. Since its inception in 1968 by Rafer Johnson, Special Olympics Southern California participation has been free of charge.

CASA OC Seeks Volunteers & Help To Mentor Neglected Kids In Need

In this podcast...Lisa Foxx talks to the CEO of CASA OC, Regan Dean Phillips & CASA OC Volunteer, former NFL star Corey Lindsley about how their program works to help abused and neglected kids who are in and out of the welfare/foster care system. We also talked about their big fundraiser and how they are looking for folks to make a 2 year commitment to a child in need.

CASA OC is a privately-funded non-profit organization that serves severely abused, neglected and abandoned children through the recruitment, training, and continued support of volunteers–CASAs–who advocate for and mentor these children. From the courtroom to the classroom, CASAs represent the best interests of the children they serve. CASA OC stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates. Their organization provides trained volunteers to advocate for children in the foster care system. These volunteers are appointed by the court to get to know a child, review their case, and make recommendations to the judge to ensure the child's best interests are heard and met. The goal is to provide a consistent and reliable adult presence for the child as they navigate the complex foster care system.

And no one knows more about that, then Nichole Delansky ...a busy working Mom who is also THANKFULLY a breast cancer SURVIVOR!! Diagnosed in October 2023, Nichole underwent multiple surgeries, chemotherapy and radiation, and has transitioned to preventative drug therapy. Ed decided to dedicate himself to the goal of ensuring that no other family had to endure such a terrible ordeal. Ed now proudly travels the country, teaching students, parents, and educators essential social media safety skills. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife, 5 kids, two dogs, and bearded dragon.

JORDANS LAW: In 2016, then 14-year-old Jordan Peisner was standing with friends outside a local fast food restaurant when he was suddenly and viciously assaulted by another teen he did not know. During the attack and while Jordan lay helpless on the ground, witnesses and friends of the perpetrator stood and filmed the assault on their phones and then quickly uploaded their videos to social media. Now, this horrifying footage lives forever on social media already having been viewed by hundreds of thousands.

Determined to ensure that no other family had to endure such an ordeal, Jordan’s father, Ed Peisner, formed the Organization for Social Media Safety and began researching how to help. He was astonished to learn that since the early 2000s social media motived violence, or attacks initiated to be filmed and distributed on social media for the purpose of gaining internet fame, had risen exponentially each year. So, the Organization for Social Media Safety set to work on public policy advocacy to stop this disturbing trend.

On September 21st, 2020, while at home, Eric collapsed from massive right heart failure and almost died. Walking helped get him through the miserable side effects attributed to the medications, it assisted in keeping him mentally fresh and provided so many additional benefits. And still does to this day. With these walks the miles began to add up, in the calendar years 2022, 2023, and 2024, he walked over 14,000 miles! On September 7th, 2025, almost five years later, he'll begin his second walk from Los Angeles to San Diego to raise money and awareness for patients living with pulmonary hypertension and for TEAM PHENOMENAL HOPE 🙂

Thousands Cycling To Fight Cancer At Tour de Pier!

Tour de Pier is a unique cancer fundraiser that brings indoor stationary cycling to the gorgeous outdoors. Hundreds of spin bikes ride in place with an ocean view overlooking the Manhattan Beach Pier. The South Bay's best instructors, entertainers, and celebrity guests lead a morning of 5 one-hour spin sessions loaded with energy, excitement, and emotion! Since it began in 2013, the Tour De Pier has raised nearly $14.5 million, which divides all proceeds to go to nonprofits like the Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research, the Cancer Support Community South Bay and the Uncle Kory Foundation for brain cancer.

In addition to cycling, there will be a FREE Health & Fitness Expo featuring a wide variety of Southern California vendors. Kids can enjoy the Cardio Kids Zone with tot-sized stationary bikes, games, moon bounces and more. A complimentary bike valet service will be available to provide a convenient and secure way for guests to park their bicycles, ensuring a hassle-free experience. They are a non-profit that works with teachers, counselors, social workers, police officers and more who apply for grants to help treat kids in need of school clothes, to pay for their summer camp, cover the cost of their prom ticket you name it.

Popular actor Steve Carell told high schoolers affected by the recent LA Wildfires, that he teamed up with the non-profit Alice's Kids to PAY FOR THEIR PROM TICKETS! The Virginia-based children's charity said that the prom promise will support approximately 800 students across six high schools, estimating the total cost to be around $175,000. Ron Fitzsimmons, the executive director of Alice's Kids, said Carell was asked to announce the pledge because so many young people binge-watched The Office during the pandemic.

They discuss all the ways they are offering immediate and long-term relief to thousands of Angelinos who have been directly affected. They are also in need of blood and monetary donations.

RED CROSS RESPONSE Hundreds of Red Crossers are providing support in California for those coping with the wildfires, including some 450 people staying in emergency shelters. So far, the Red Cross has provided more than 14,500 overnight stays in shelters and, with our partners, more than 128,000 meals and snacks. As communities reopen, Red Crossers are there with support including cleaning supplies, flashlights, face masks, gloves, water and other essentials. More than 102,000 relief items have already been provided.

The Red Cross is providing financial assistance to residents who lived within the fire perimeters of Eaton, Palisades, Hurst, and Kenneth as defined by Cal OES. Help Chef Bruno Serato Feed Thousands Of Hungry Teens In Need

Caterina’s Club’s mission is to provide warm meals, affordable housing assistance, and job training to homeless and low-income families throughout Southern California. It is supported by a vision where we are creating a modicum of consistency in these children’s lives through something as simple yet meaningful as a nightly dinner.

This overarching vision that started as preventing children in motels from going to bed hungry has turned into 5,055 vulnerable children receiving a meal every day at 114 sites throughout LA and Orange Counties; 268 families have been placed in permanent housing in safe neighborhoods through our Welcome Home program, and 850+ teens have trained through the Hospitality Academy at four Anaheim High Schools. Our vision is to provide every child with the resources, love, and encouragement they need to be healthy, safe, and educated.

It all started with Mamma Caterina. Bruno and his mother, Caterina, visited the Boys and Girls Club of Anaheim down the street from his restaurant (Anaheim White House), where his mother noticed that there was a 6-year old boy eating potato chips for dinner, because his family couldn’t afford a proper meal. Caterina insisted that Bruno make some pasta for the child. They soon realized that there were many more of these hungry ‘motel children’, so Bruno began making pasta for 72 children, 5 nights a week, giving birth to our program “Feeding the Kids in America”. Today, that event has expanded to feeding over 25,025 meals a week. Frustrated that feeding the children was not enough, Bruno began a second program called “Welcome Home”, where we provide qualified families, living in the dark environment of a motel, with the necessary resources to move into the safety and stability of an apartment or condo.

Aired September 29, 2024: Susan G. Komen®, the world’s leading breast cancer organization, is hosting their MORE THAN PINK Walk, Saturday, October 5 at Exposition Park. It'll be all about bringing together survivors, supporters and advocates to raise critical funds to advance Komen’s mission and provide support for people facing this disease now.

In 2024 alone, an estimated 32,660 women in California will be diagnosed with breast cancer and 4,570 will lose their lives to the disease. Funds raised at the walk will allow Komen to meet the immediate needs of breast cancer patients through its free Breast Care Helpline and offer services such as patient navigation, financial assistance and emotional support. It will also fund research breakthroughs that allow more lives to be saved from breast cancer and bring us closer to the cures for all breast cancers.

In this podcast, Lisa Foxx talks to 2-time breast cancer survivor Annette Crump about her experience from diagnosis to being cancer free. She also discusses why its so important for women to do home exams in addition to annual mammograms starting at age 40. Four years ago this September, Eric Borstein almost died due to severe right heart failure. He spent 16 days in the ICU where he was diagnosed with a very rare lung disease called Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension, a disease with no cure. At the time the outlook was dire, as they told his wife he probably had 3-6 months to live. Needless to say, four years later he is ALIVE and much better thanks to walking! Eric learned very early on that walking helped mitigate the terrible side effects associated with medications. A few short steps in the hospital led to a walk around the block at home, which led to a mile, two, three. In the calendar years 2022 he walked 4,700 miles, and in 2023 he walked a little over 5,000 miles. Now he's hoping you will walk with him, to raise money and awareness for PAH patients.

September 22nd, Eric will be walking from Los Angeles to San Diego to raise awareness for this rare disease. Before he heads out on this 6-day journey down the coast, he and his family are putting on the first annual Where is EB? fundraiser and 5K in Santa Monica, that will benefit Team PHenomenal Hope. California Law requires that all drivers of vehicles within the State maintain evidence of financial responsibility. California's Low Cost Automobile Program (CLCA) was established by the Legislature in 1999 and exists pursuant to California Insurance Code Section 11629.7 as a program designed to provide income eligible persons with liability insurance protection at affordable rates as a way to meet California's financial responsibility laws.

However, too many income eligible drivers remain uninsured because the costs of standard insurance premiums are beyond their financial reach. Learn about affordable solutions that may help protect you, your friends, family and other drivers on the road.

Effective January 01, 2015 a new law, SB 1273 passed by the Governor on September 19, 2014, provides an exception to the three-year continuously licensed requirement to allow drivers with less than 3 years verifiable driving experience to participate in the program and increased vehicle values from $20,000 to $25,000. Help The Westside Food Bank Rock 4 Hunger

Aired July 14, 2024: Since the 1980’s, the Westside Food Bank has been distributing nearly 5 MILLION POUNDS of food to feed Angelinos every year. They give food, they also accept donations of food, toiletries and baby items. They are always in need of volunteers and donations. You can also give back by attending their annual Rock 4 Hunger fundraiser at the Viper Room Thursday July 18th. The WSFB acquires food through both donations and bulk purchases and provide this consistent supply of nutritious food to their member agencies. They also provide limited direct food distribution through their mobile pantries and help develop programs for specific high-need populations.

Westside Food Bank coordinated with the City of Santa Monica to open a weekly pop-up food pantry in a city park that provides more than 17,000 pounds of food for more than 500 households each week. They also have opened two pop-up pantries: one in Culver City and the other in the west LA area. They are also working with Meals on Wheels West to provide boxes of groceries that volunteers deliver to homebound seniors along with their prepared meals. They provide high-protein foods and fresh produce for backpack and hot meal programs serving children and families and free farmers’ market-style distributions in Culver City Unified School District.
Veterans in need of nutritional support have access to bagged lunches at multiple VA sites and receive food from several veteran-centric WSFB member agencies including our own drive-through pop-up pantry in front of the Fisher House. We supply food to UCLA’s Food Closet for multiple Santa Monica College food assistance programs and at Mount Saint Mary’s University farmer’s market-style distributions. SO many ways that they make it affordable to help too! Including attending their upcoming fundraiser.

Two nonprofits are teaming up for a two-day event dedicated to mental well-being, self-care, creativity, and fun. WisdoMania Foundation and Tangible Movement have planned this new event, WisdoMania Fest, to take place on the evenings of May 17 and May 19, with two very different nights in two different locations. Headlined by artist/songwriter X. ARI as well as Torri Shack, an advocate for mental health, suicide prevention, and trans issues. The two evenings of WisdoMania Fest are intended to lead attendees toward a sense of constructive peace and transformational self-awareness.

She was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2008 when she was 23 years old. Like most of you, we had heard of MS - but didn't know anything about what this disease can do to your mind and your body. Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a very unpredictable disease of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body.
MS is different for everyone, making it more challenging to solve. If you know Jill, you know she keeps life positive and hides her bad days well. Her symptoms are different every day. They can include numbness, weakness and tingling in her arms and legs and face, double and blurred vision, extreme fatigue, joint pain, migraines, slurred speech, brain fog.

The first Walk MS event was in 1988, and since then more than $920 million has been raised for research and programs to improve the lives of people living with MS. Today, there are treatments where there weren't any before, and the dream of ending MS is becoming a reality. But there is still so much to do. Jill and her family formed Team Jillian the year she was diagnosed and we won't stop until there is a cure.

Multiple sclerosis is a disease that impacts the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves, which make up the central nervous system and controls everything we do. The resulting damage to myelin, the protective layer insulating wire-like nerve fibers, disrupts signals to and from the brain. This interruption of communication signals causes unpredictable symptoms such as numbness, tingling, mood changes, memory problems, pain, fatigue, blindness and/or paralysis. Everyone’s experience with MS is different and these losses may be temporary or long lasting.

She’s a mom and a wife, an athlete, and the Founder of https://strengththroughstrides.org/, a female athletic empowerment nonprofit that supports strong women overcoming trauma. Summer was 19 years old and a college sophomore in Austin, Texas when she was sexually assaulted at a party that prompted her to run for her life. Now age 29, she will run 29 marathons to help others who have been sexually assaulted though her non-profit Strength through Strides.
She will run the NYC Marathon carrying a 45lb mattress the entire 26.2 miles. In LA, she is trying to break the record for 'most outfit changes while running a marathon' and will change into various outfits from the Barbie movie on Sunday 3/17! While in LA she will tour the UCLA Rape Treatment Center and will donate proceeds from her participation in the Marathon to them. Before taking on these challenges, Summer had never run a single mile before. Strength Through Strides is an empowerment and support program focusing on helping women overcome trauma and hardships. STS does this through coaching and holistic retreats focusing on health and wellness, goal setting, mindset coaching, and community support.

About 50% of all unhoused youth were homeless for the first time in the past year. Thank GOODNESS for places like Covenant House California. Their programs and services are designed to advance a young person’s physical, emotional, educational, vocational, and spiritual well-being in order to provide them with the best chance for success in being independent. Habits of Waste believes in the power of the individual to make small changes within their daily lives to protect the planet and combat climate change. They offer suggestions and provide solutions, helping individuals to live more eco consciously without overwhelm. We all have a role to play.
H.O.W. founder Sheila Morovati successfully spearheaded the historic ban on single-use plastic straws and cutlery in the City of Malibu. Sheila realized that an iconic beach city like Malibu would create the ripple effect that was so necessary to create change. Malibu was the first city to make such a ban go into effect and the number of cities and countries that followed suit is awe-inspiring. Since then, Sheila created numerous campaigns that have effected change such as #CutOutCutlery, which successfully convinced Uber Eats, Postmates, Doordash and Grubhub to change the default setting in their applications so that users only receive plastic cutlery upon request. This campaign is ongoing. Sheila also founded a non-profit called, crayoncollection.org, which has grown to become a tremendous success with a presence in all 50 states and 9 countries. Her idea was to redirect would-have-been-trashed crayons from restaurants and well served communities and distribute them, along with free art education curricula, to Title 1 Schools and Head Start Centers within 5 miles of the donor. Restaurants throw away over 150 million crayons per year, which do not decompose as they are made of paraffin wax. In addition, Sheila felt this behavior was subliminally teaching, our children, that a throw-away culture is acceptable. Since inception, Crayon Collection has redirected over 20 million crayons from landfill and continues to set a new norm throughout society, that still-good crayons are not trash.

It's ALWAYS a good time to talk about ways to improve our environment and planet as a whole, but with the holidays and holiday parties here...what better time to prepare to NOT be wasteful. The non-profit organization Habits of Waste is ALL about spreading that message YEAR-ROUND as they are focused on changing people's daily habits by encouraging everyone to rethink wasteful behavior. Their mission: Cleaning up the planet one “habit of waste” at a time. We are in the age of treatment, and early detection is more important than ever (Meg speaks very well to this in easy-to-understand terms) • This past year, two drugs, Aduhelm (Ad-U-Helm) and Leqembi (Leh-Kem-Bee) were approved by the FDA for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease, and Leqembi received full FDA approval just this past summer. All treatments must be administered in the early stages of Alzheimer's, so that early detection is important • Get those annual exams. Aired September 17, 2023: EJ interviewed Jace Campbell about the ERTC. The ERTC was introduced in the CARES Act in 2020 as a way of supporting businesses who kept employees on the payroll despite financial hardships of the pandemic and oppressive governmental orders. This program seemed too good to be true at first, and so I would explain it to clients like this: "If you had financial hardship during the pandemic or your business was impacted by governmental orders, but you kept employees on your payroll and out of the unemployment lines, the government was providing cash to help soften your financial impact."
The maximum an employer could receive in 2020 was $5,000 per employee, so this financially less costly to the government than if those employees had ended up claiming unemployment. In 2021 the cash refunds increased to $7,000 per employee per quarter; however, many of the governmental orders began lifting and businesses were not directly impacted to the same degree, so fewer businesses qualified in 2021.

Pepperoni’s. Now a college sophomore, Lauren helped inspire the Sgt. Pepperoni’s owner families to build upon her efforts with their own fundraiser. As of now, CF doesn't have a cure, but Grace has refused to let her diagnosis bring her down.
Instead of succumbing to the difficulty of her disease, Grace allowed her diagnosis to spur her actions. She's the founder of the powerful non-profit organization, the Grace Rose Foundation, which raises money for CF research and awareness. She also created her own clothing line, Rosie G, at just ten years old, and has used her incredible talent as a platform to bring her disease into the public eye.
