David Berthon's Motor TorqueSubaru released a very impressive wagon in June – the 2.0-litre turbo all-wheel- drive Levorg is a sports wagon – Subaru suggesting it’s the spiritual successor to the turbo Liberty GT wagon. Smaller overall but with more room inside. Two models the Levorg GT and the GT-S – $42.990 and $48,890 respectively – I’ve just tested both - I don’t know where the name Levorg is derived from but it’s the worst part of this new wagon which is a real fire cracker - with all-wheel- drive it relishes a winding road– so sure footed, turbo performance where you want it via a continuously variable transmission with manual shift paddles and it simply grips the road like it has claws. In some ways its a strange mix - whilst it’s impressive I would have thought most driver’s wanting this outstanding sports performance would surely prefer a sedan or coupe. Having said that, its already achieving its sales targets so obviously there is demand in the marketplace for a high-performance wagon. I’m David Berthon
