Ukrainian soldiers and citizens have been fighting and defending their country from a Russian invasion for 83 days. 

In a military campaign tainted by logistical troubles and dwindling morale, you could say Vladimir Putin's "special operation" in Ukraine hasn't quite gone to plan.

John Stanley catches up with Alexandra Vinokur, a Ukrainian defence force volunteer, who left her family behind to stay in Kyiv and fight for her country's future. 

Alex highlights the situation in Ukraine is still a disaster but morale in Ukraine is still very strong however people are becoming tired and emotionally exhausted. 

Alexandra expresses how the whole world has helped Ukraine and without this support Ukraine would be in a more dire situation. 

John asks “will life ever get back to what it was?” 

“I think that we will never forget what has happened… people are stressed we need mental help but I think that we are going to be fine,” says Alexandra. 

Alexandra tells John that since their previous chats on the radio many people from Australia have personally reached out to her to provide support.
